What is a Resolution?

A resolution is a firm decision to do or not do something. Most people make resolutions at the beginning of a new year. Some people resolve to lose weight. Some people resolve to eat healthier. Some people resolve to write a novel. Some people resolve to read more. Some people resolve to save money. Some people resolve to exercise. What is your New Year's resolution?

Boxes:A Poem for Kids

Boxes hold cereal,
boxes hold shoes,
boxes hold crayons
in three hundred hues.
Boxes hold jewelry,
boxes hold candy.
I guess you could say that
boxes are handy!

Holiday Greetings

I'm just soooo excited about Christmas this year...aren't you?

It's Thanksgiving: A Mini Song for Kids

(Note: "It's Thanksgiving" is a mini song for kids sung to the tune of "Clementine").

It's Thanksgiving,
It's Thanksgiving,
It's Thanksgiving,
Shout hurray!
It's Thanksgiving,
It's Thanksgiving,
Hip-hurray for turkey day!

How to be a Writer in Five Minutes a Day:Part One

Did you know that you don't need to sit in front of a computer screen all day to be considered a writer? That's right! You can become a writer with just five minutes to spare each day.

"How?" you may ask. It's easy. Here a few tips to get you started.

1. Write a mini song. Examine "Itsy Bitsy Spider". The song is a only a few lines long yet it's memorable and fun! Exercise: Try writing a song about anything-Christmas, puppies, even the weather! Then share your song with a parent or friend or in the comments below. Happy writing!

Update: Here's a mini song I wrote off the top of my head called "School is Cool".

School is cool.
School is cool.
Learning is a treat.
School is cool.
School is cool.
School just can't be beat!

See, "School is Cool" isn't a masterpiece but it is a catchy little tune if I do say so myself!
